'Bankrupt' Nani jolts YSRC in Krishna Dist VIJAYAWADA: Former MLA and YSRC Machilipatnam Assembly constituency incharge Perni Venkatramaiah aka Nani reportedly shot off a letter to party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday expressing his inability to contest the elections.
According to party sources, Nani, in his letter, claimed to have borrowed `1.30 crore and spent it all in the recent civic polls, besides mortgaging his house for `70 lakh.
Former minister Kolusu Parathasarathy, who joined the YSRC, visited Nani's house and enquired with his wife Jayasudha whether the ex-MLA was upset due to his induction into the party or that of former deputy speaker Burgadda Vedavyas. Nani is said to be unhappy with Vedavyas as well as Kolusu's induction despite his best efforts to keep them at bay.
It is said that Nani had tried to bring in Machilipatnam former MP Badiga Ramakrishna into the YSRC and get him a Lok Sabha ticket. Nani had almost decided to quit the party. Hence, the letter.
Speculation is also rife that Nani had sought financial support from Parthasarathy in vain. Meanwhile, party activists staged a dharna in front of the house of Nani in Machilipatnam demanding that he file his nomination.
