Kiran dares Naidu, Jagan to stay away from power TIRUPATI: Jai Samaikyandhra Party (JSP) president and former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, who opted not to contest elections by not filing his nomination papers, challenged the TDP and YSRC presidents N Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy respectively to announce that they are not aspiring for the chief minister post.
'I sacrificed the chief minister's post and now I am not even contesting the elections as I want to put in sincere efforts for the cause of Samaikyandhra. Can the TDP and YSRC top leaders, who are shedding crocodile tears on the state bifurcation issue, keep themselves away from power for the same cause,' he asked.
Addressing the gathering in Tirupati, the JSP chief said the the Congress party committed suicide in Seemandhra by bifurcating the state. Reddy wanted the people not to vote for the Congress party, as well as the BJP, TDP and YSRC, which supported the state division.
'After resignation, I challenged the Union government's decision in the Apex Court pointing out the Constitutional violations in the Bill and I am confident that the Court will quash the Bill. We need proper strength to oppose the Bill,' he said and wanted the people to give their mandate to the JSP candidates.
Kiran Kumar Reddy took up his election campaigns in Chandragiri and Tirupati constituencies, where his former cabinet colleagues Galla Aruna Kumari and M Venkataramana are contesting on TDP tickets in both the constituencies respectively. He did not level any personal remarks against the two leaders and only confined himself to criticise the Congress, BJP, TDP and YSRC parties.
Kiran Kumar Reddy, who got a warm welcome from public at Pileru on Saturday, however, addressed thin crowds in Chandragiri and Srikalahasti towns. In Tirupati too, the crowd did not turn up to the expected levels. Apart from JSP supporters, followers of CPM also took part in the meeting holding their party flags.
