Pawan says he is here to stay HYDERABAD: BJP leader Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, an underdog in 2009 elections, suddenly gained popularity in 2014. The reason: the backing of 'Power star' Pawan Kalyan.
'I am a fan of Pawan Kalyan. I will vote for Ramachandra Reddy,' Kiran, a first time voter declared after he heard Pawan Kalyan's terse speech at a meeting in Khairatabad on Friday.
Though Pawan was running behind schedule, a large number of voters, most of them youngsters and first time voters, waited for the star-campaigner to arrive.
Unlike other political meetings, there were hardly any hired audience. Most of those who attended the meeting were hardcore BJP workers and ardent fans of the Tollywood star.
Though, the star-campaigner spoke only for around ten minutes, he sent out his message loud and clear, 'Only one name'Modi, only one slogan'Congress hatao, only one word'TDP-BJP alliance and only one mantra'development', he said as the crowd greeted him with a loud applause.
'We want a stable government for the country. So, I have decided to back Narendra Modi,' Pawan said as he left his mark on the gathering.
However, Pawan's support to the TDP-BJP combine is not an unconditional one. 'If the NDA does not work efficiently, I will question them on your behalf. I wil continue in film industry and in politics too for the next five years,' said Pawan, which drew much appreciation from the enthusiatic crowd.
