KCR faces OU students wrath Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi's president K Chandrasekhara Rao on Sunday underwent some embarrassing moments after Osmania University students shouted him down for promising to regularize contract employees.
Rao, who is on a whirlwind election campaign across the region, arrived at Lalapet only to be greeted by agitated students. As soon as the TRS chief stepped out of his vehicle, students welcomed him with 'KCR go back' slogans protesting against the party's decision to regularize contract government employees. Rao, sensing the mood, swiftly left the scene.
It may be recalled here that TRS promised in its manifesto to regularize all serving contract employees in the new state of Telangana.
Students claimed that this promises by KCR would result in loss of employment opportunities to them. It was a hectic day for the TRS chief who toured extensively in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.
He started his campaign from Tandur in Rangareddy district. However, he was forced to cancel his scheduled public meeting in Vikarabad as his chopper was not allowed to land there in the light of AICC president Sonia Gandhi's tour in the district.
Just a day before campaign comes to an end in Telangana, the TRS chief promised to turn the city slum-free. Rao addressed public meetings at LB Nagar, Kushaiguda, Chilkalguda, Sanathnagar and Khairatabad on Sunday.
The TRS has so far not made any inroads into the constituencies in the city. The party had won Musheerabad and Secunderabad in 2004 Assembly elections but lost both seats to Congress in 2009.
Meanwhile, Chandrasekhara Rao in his speeches repeatedly mentioned ITIR project claiming that it would provide direct employment to 30,000 people and indirect employment to an equal number of people.
He said that ITIR would further boost the brand image of Hyderabad. Rao also raised his tirade against Andhra politicians and said that he would not allow even their shadow on new state.
Making an appeal to the voters to cast both the votes (LS and Assembly) to TRS, he said that every vote polled in favour BJP will go to in to TDP's account.
In a bid to attract Seemandhra settlers in the city, he said that TRS has no quarrel with the people who came here to earn their bread and butter and treat them all Telangana people for all practical purposes.
He, however, did not touch any contentious issues in his tour, except for showering his choicest expletives on Pawan Kalyan.
