Kavuri to Join BJP on May 1 ELURU: Ending a three-month suspense, sitting Congress MP from Eluru Kavuri Sambasiva Rao has decided to join the BJP in the presence of BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a public meeting at Bhimavaram on May 1, it is learnt.
Earlier, Sambasiva Rao wanted to join the TDP but senior leader and Eluru Lok Sabha candidate of the party Maganti Venkateswara Rao and the TDP cadre opposed his entry into the yellow party. With this, party president Chandrababu Naidu decided against further aggravating the problem by inviting Sambasiva Rao.
Later, he took a decision to jump into the saffron bandwagon, it is learnt. When Narsapur Lok Sabha constituency was allotted to the BJP as a part of the pre-poll alliance between TDP and BJP and the ticket was alloted to Gokaraju Ganga Raju, the veteran Congress leader missed the chance to contest on BJP ticket.
