Jayaprada wow's Janagama voters Jangaon (Warangal): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Ponnala Laxmaiah conducted hectic campaigning in the town on Monday, the last day for canvassing. The TPCC chief was accompanied by actress-turned-politician Jayaprada. Both the leaders toured the colonies conducting road shows and appealing to the voters to support the Congress.
The road show by Jayaprada evoked huge response from the public. Jayaprada urged the public to elect Laxmaiah if they wanted to see the constituency progressing.
During the past one decade, Jangaon town and the constituency had witnessed great progress, she said. 'The TPCC chief should be re-elected for the continuation of development works. Only the Congress can ensure development of Telangana as the manifesto contains a futuristic vision,' she said.
Later, Laxmaiah urged the voters to support the Congress, which had carved out Telangana. 'Congress has prepared the election manifesto keeping the needs and welfare of common man in mind. The Congress, after coming to power, will waive agriculture loans up to Rs 2 lakh drawn from the banks.
The party will fulfil its election promises the same way it had kept its promise on separate Telangana,' Laxmaiah said. The Congress would support the families of Telangana martyrs, he added. Only the Congress could claim credit for the formation of Telangana, which was made possible because of the firm commitment of AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, he add.
