It is Naidu's last poll, says Jagan
Gannavaram (Krishna: Braving the scorching heat, people in large numbers turned up at Gandhi Chowk here, about 25 km from Vijayawada, on the Chennai-Kolkata national highway expecting the arrival of YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
It was almost noon when he arrived there, two hours behind schedule. While bike-riding youths led the convoy, women and young people scaled buildings to catch a glimpse of the young leader.
Speaking after his party candidate for the Gannavaram Assembly seat had spoken, Jagan appealed to the people to choose the right candidate as their representative.
'General election is only nine days away. The election is very crucial as it will change our fate,' he said and added that people should elect the leader who would remain permanent in their hearts even after his demise.
He said that his father, the late YS Rajasekar Reddy, was only the great leader who got a place in the hearts of the people and has remained there.
Reiterating his promises, he said he would affix his first five signatures to herald path-breaking policies and also take up six other works after taking oath as chief minister which would change the history of the state. His announcement received a loud applause from the crowd.
Attacking TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, he said Naidu would say and do 'anything' to get power. 'Since Chandrababu knows that this will be his last election, he is making false promises. But I cannot lie like him since I want to remain in politics for another 30 years.'
Jagan also asked people to question Babu, who is promising free schemes right and left, why he had failed to keep even a single promise when he was the chief minister.
The YSRC president termed the present elections as a fight between honesty and conspiracy, and appealed to voters to elect YSRC candidates Dutta Ramachandra Rao as MLA from Gannavaram and Kolusu Parthasarathy as MP from Machilipatnam.
Later, he conducted roadshows at Nidamanuru, Enikepadu, Prasadampadu and Ramavarappadu which also witnessed large turnouts. After completing electioneering in Krishna district, he left for Guntur and commenced roadshows from Nallacheruvu Centre on the outskirts of the city.
