Wardhannapet Cong candidate attempts suicide WARANGAL: In a shocking development, Kondeti Sridhar, Wardhannapet Congress candidate attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills on Tuesday afternoon, hours before Telangana goes to polls. With his condition becoming serious, he was shifted to the Care Hospital in Hyderabad later in the night.
Sridhar resorted to the extreme step at a mango grove near Pedda Pendial after a meeting with his followers in Beemaram village. It is learnt that the Congress leader was depressed over his financial position. He told his followers that he was unable to help them financially as he had not received enough funds.
According to sources, Sridhar was expecting some financial help from the party and from his political mentors. Further with negative reports in the media over his winning chances, he was in a state of depression.
After the meeting, he went to the mango grove and consumed the sleeping pills. His close associates, who saw Sridhar collapsing shifted him to a private hospital in Hanamkonda. He was put on ventilator in the Intensive Care unit. With his condition further deteriorating, he was shifted to the Care Hospital in Hyderabad later in the night.
Learning of Sridhar's suicide bid, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah rushed to the hospital.
