Tight security for Modi's meeting in Tirupati TIRUPATI: Massive security arrangements have been made for the two-day visit of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to Chittoor district to campaign for the TDP-BJP alliance candidates, starting with a public meeting in the temple town on Wednesday evening.
A tight security blanket has been thrown around the Tarakarama stadium, the venue of his public meeting, and also around the temple town.
An Inspector-General rank official from Gujarat state has already arrived in Tirupati at the head of a police team and is supervising the arrangements for the meeting.
The Gujarat police team visited the meeting venue and also inspected accommodation and other places at Tirumala where Modi will stay for the night.
'As per the instructions issued by police, two stages have been erected at the meeting venue - one for Modi and other central and state political leaders and one for the local BJP and TDP leaders and important party activists,' said an organiser.
The front portion of the stage has been allocated for 'D' (defensive) purpose, where only security personnel would be allowed to provide close-proximity security for Modi, he said.
BJP and TDP leaders are expecting a crowd of over one lakh for the meeting and are mobilising accordingly.
