Vijayashanti shouts at polling official HYDERABAD: Actress-turned-politican Vijayashanti took a polling official to task in Medak on Wednesday alleging that he was forcing people to vote for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Vijayashanti, who is referred to as 'lady Amitabh', fell out with TRS leader K Chandrasekhar Rao had joined the Congress a few months ago. She had represented the Medak Lok Sabha seat as TRS member in the 2009 elections. This time, the Congress nominated her for the Medak assembly seat. KCR himself is contesting from the Medak LS seat.
At the Muttaiguda polling station in Medak, Vijayashanti pulled up a polling official whose name is Madhusudhan. She charged him with working for the TRS .
The official protested but Vijayashanti told him he was unfit to do his job. "You should prove your charge against me that I helped the TRS," the official told Vijayashanti who continued her tirade against him despite his protests.
After coming out of the polling booth, Vijayashanti claimed that the official who was allegedly related to TRS leader T Harish Rao, nephew of KCR, was resorting to malpractice in the polling booth".
"When an aged voter wanted to vote for the hand symbol (Congress), the polling official made him press the TRS symbol, which is the car," Vijayashanti said.
"This is just too much. Is this an election in Harish Rao's house?" she commented. Harish Rao is contesting from the Siddipet assembly constituency which also comes under the Medak LS seat.
