Kishan confident of BJP-TDP win in Telangana HYDERABAD: BJP Telangana unit president G Kishan Reddy has claimed that the BJP-TDP combine will emerge victorious in the just concluded Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Telangana.
Speaking to reporters here, Kishan Reddy said that the BJP-TDP combine received tremendous positive response from the voters in Telangana and, going by the pattern of voting, it became clear that the two parties would do better than others. 'The BJP will play a crucial role in the formation of new government in Telangana.'
He said the people of Telangana, especially those in the rural areas, voted for BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
'The people of the state want NDA to form government at the Centre and see Narendra Modi as prime minister. They have realised that the state can develop only if a BJP-led government is at the Centre. Hence their vote for the saffron party, ' he said.
Kishan Reddy said that the new state of Telangana would have a new set of problems and his party's government at the Centre would try to address them effectively. He said that the welfare of the people would be BJP's top priority.
The BJP Telangana unit chief, however, was disappointed with Hyderabadi voters as only 53 percent exercised their franchise.
'We expected a good turnout this time in the city but Hyderabadis disappointed us. Before elections it had looked as if more than 80 percent polling would take place in the city as government and several organisations had undertaken awareness programmes on the importance of voting. Yet, many failed to cast their vote,' Kishan Reddy pointed out.
