Netizens blast Chiru on social media Hyderabad : The whole episode of former Tollywood actor and mega star Chiranjeevi violating the queue on polling day had irked citizens in the city who criticised the act by posting their opinions on various social media networking sites that went viral on Wednesday.
The actor turned politician's family visit to cast vote in one of the polling stations in Jubilee Hills and not standing in the queue along with common people called for unexpected confrontation by an NRI and a Cambridge based young IT professional Raja Karthik Ganta who came from London to cast his vote.
In a straightforward manner, he questioned Chiranjeevi about violating the rules when rest of the voters were standing in queue.
The video went viral on social media and netizens reacted strongly. Subhorup D, commenting on the video that went viral on Facebook said, 'You might have seen this a hundred times over by now. But it still sends a strong message about the kind of people who get into the business of running our country.
"People vehemently criticised the act and stressed that only senior citizens and people in exceptional situations must be privileged. Sanjukta K said, 'Anybody who jumps the queue (celebrity or not) should be stopped. Only senior citizens, pregnant women or those with major health issues should be given this privilege.'
Stressing that election day is the only time when a common man can talk to politicians this way, another Facebook user Unnikrishnan M said, 'What Karthik did was absolutely correct.
Common man gets only one day in five years to respond directly like this.'Recollecting memories by jumping queues to collect tickets for Chiranjeevi movies, one Facebook user Srikanth P said, 'Hero please come in a queue. People used to beat us if we jumped queue for your movie tickets'.
Not just serious criticism but also funny jokes were formed on the incident. The instant joke that went viral in all social networking sites is that Chiranjeevi forgot to learn 'Q' in English alphabets.
Several Facebook users posted this joke. 'How did Chiranjeevi learn English? ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPRSTUVWXYZ. Yes, he jumped the Q!!!'
If one side of the social media users were blasting the former hero for his act, there were others who were concerned about the real hero 'Karthik Raja' sensing that the Tollywood hero would attack him.
Mythili Nayar posted, 'The last I heard, Chiranjeevi sent out his security detail to clobber the inmates of a car that refused to give way at the traffic lights to his son's vehicle.
The actor seems to have a reputation for being high-handed and vengeful.' So, yeah, this poor guy may well be the hero of the day, and let's hope nothing happens to him, she added.
An NRI freelancer from UK, Himavalli C opined that blaming the actor was not correct. 'It is not about Chiranjeevi or other politicians or even common man/woman like us.
One should think about the situation that actually took place instead of criticising in a flow and jumping into conclusions with basic information over social networking sites.'
He further added that Karthik set an example to NRIs as well who showed interest in India, political parties, debate on issues simply on social networking sites, and by actually voting in India. Being an NRI I will be definitely voting in next elections,' she said.
