Lagadapati predicts TDP, TRS victories Hyderabad: Known for his accurate poll predictions in the past, former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Saturday predicted comfortable victory for Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in Telangana and said that the pink party would form the first government in the new State.
Popularly referred to as 'Andhra Octopus' (named after Paul, the octopus from Germany which accurately predicted results of World Cup football matches in 2010) for his right-on-bang poll predictions, Lagadapati also predicted that Telugu Desam Party- Bharatiya Janata Party combine would win majority Assembly seats in Seemandhra and that the NDA would come to power at the Centre by crossing the magic figure of 272 Lok Sabha seats.
Rajagopal, a maverick politician who has taken 'political sanyas' following bifurcation of the State, said that the TRS would emerge victorious in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference after a long gap, Rajagopal said that the TRS would get absolute majority in the just concluded elections and form the government on its own.
Similarly, the TDP would get clear majority in Seemandhra region. He regretted that the Congress which gave him the political life was facing debacle in both the regions.
Rajagopal said that if the poling percentage in Seemandhra region crossed 70 per cent mark, the TDP-BJP combine tally would go up further.
He said that the combine could have won majority seats in united Andhra Pradesh and could have formed the government if the State remained united. He said that the people would prefer to follow regional parties' opinion when the State was going to be divided on regional grounds.
The former MP said that the people believed that the TDP had fought against bifurcation at all levels and the perception favored the party. People are sympathetic towards former Chief Minister and JSP president N Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said.
He said he had not announced any survey results so far and reports appearing in the social media in this regard were fake. In reply to a question Rajagopal said Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan's impact would be there on the voters.
