Campaign in Seemandhra ends today Hyderabad: Curtains will be drawn on a two month long hectic campaign in Seemandhra which accounts for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats today. Polling to these seats will be held on May 7.
With this the election process will be over in both the regions of combined Andhra Pradesh which will be bifurcated into two states on June 2.
Barring some sporadic incidents of skirmishes between workers of major parties, campaigning for the last election in combined State, has been peaceful.
Unlike Telangana region that went to polling in the first phase on April 30, Seemandhra region is set to witness a straight fight YCP and the BJP-TDP combine.
During the campaign several national leaders including Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi, BJP prime minister candidate Narednra Modi, BJP senior leaders Venkaiah Naidu, Prakash Javdekar, union minister Jairam Ramesh, CPM leaders Brinda Karat, Sitaram Yechuri, CPI general secretary Suravaram Sudhakara Redy and others participated in the campaign.
Besides, AP Pradesh Congress Committee president Raghuveera Reddy, campaign committee chairman and union minister Chiranjeevi, Telugu Desam party president N Chandrababu Naidu, Jana Sena party president and film star Pawan Kalyan, YCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, JSP chief and former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and others crisscrossed all the 13 Seemandhra districts.
