Betting on polls crosses Rs 400-cr mark Hyderabad: It will be a nail-biting contest for the the protagonists of YSRC and TDP in the election that was held in Seemandhra on Wednesday. At least, the punters in the north coastal Andhra and the twin Godavari districts believe so.
However, the bookies reveal that a voting percentage of over 75 per cent will benefit TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and anything below 75 per cent will be advantage to YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Betting began more than 10 days ago on the prospects of political parties in Seemandhra but reached the peak in the last two or three days.
The overall betting business is said to be to the tune of `150 crore in East Godavari, `200 crore in West Godavari and `50 to 60 crore in north coastal Andhra.
TDP leaders in East Godavari district are betting that their party will win 12 Assembly seats and the Rajahmundry and Amalapuram LS seats from the district; and 110 MLA seats in Seemandhra.
YSRC men predict win of at least 15 Assembly seats and three Lok Sabha seats from East Godavari, and at least 110 MLA seats in the entire Seemandhra. The odds placed are for triple the betting amount, if the prediction comes true.
In West Godavari, the punters are betting that YSRC will not win more than 10 Assembly seats from the district and 100 in Seemandhra.
YSRC men are betting that their party will get over 100 Assembly seats and 12 seats in West Godavari apart from the two Lok Sabha seats of Eluru and Narasapur.
However, bookies are placing bets that YSRC will not win more than 100 seats failing which the punters will get double their bet amount. A straight bet between the bookies is placed over either TDP or YSRC getting 90 Assembly seats.
The favourite MP candidates with the gamblers include Galla Jayadev, K Rammohan Naidu and YS Vijayalakshmi. The bookies are sure of their win and are placing bets on their majority ranging from 50,000 to 3 lakh votes. Those who predict the exact majority will get to take home four times the amount.
