TDP leader found murdered MACHILIPATNAM: TDP leader Parimkayala Rama Rao was killed in a brutal attack at Kothapudi village Saturday night. Locals found his body at a church in the village in the early hours of Sunday.
According to police, Rama Rao went to Machilipatnam Saturday night and was returning to his village on his motorcycle after completing his work in the town.
Some miscreants waylaid him at the church, blew chilli powder in his eyes and attacked him with swords. The assailants stabbed Rama Rao indiscriminately, killing him on the spot.
Though his family members are staying in Machilipatnam town, he had been residing in the village recently due to his active participation in the party affairs in the just-concluded Parliamentary and Assembly elections. CI NVVS Murthy reached the spot upon being informed of the murder and started investigation.
Though Rama Rao's son P Ashok had expressed doubts over the role of rival parties, personal issues are said to be the reason behind the murder. Rama Rao's wife Pushpavathi worked as the village sarpanch for some time in the past.
Machilipatnam DSP KV Srinivasa Rao said that a case was registered and investigation is on. He ruled out any political angle to the murder. Meanwhile, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the brutal murder of the party leader.
