Parties try to woo independent candidates SANGAREDDY: While officials are busy making arrangements for declaring the results of local body polls, candidates who are eyeing chairman posts from all political parties are engaged in organising their camps in view of the poll result.
Efforts are already being made by parties to send their support group members away on tours. They do not want to lose them out of their fold. In addition, the aspirants are sweating it out to win the support of the independent counsellor.
The TRS and the Congress are vying for chairman posts in Medak, Jogipet, Sadasivapet, Zaheerabad and Sangareddy municipalities. But in Gajwel municipality the TDP is giving a tough fight to the pink party.
With independents forming a sizeable number in Sangareddy municipality, every party is trying to woo these independents candidates in order to attain chairman post.
In Zaheerabad municipality, the presence of MIM will not make it easy going for the TDP and the Congress. Accordingly, in this segment MIM will play a decisive role.
In Jogipet, while the fight is clearly drawn between the TRS and the Congress, the national party exudes confidence that it would emerge as the single largest party in this segment.
Even TDP is confident of winning in some wards of the segment. On the other hand, Sadasivapet municipality is heading for a triangular fight.
Although, the Congress party has failed to obtain majority in the past, former MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy has become the chairman by enjoying the support of the independents.
