TDP sweeps Seemandhra municipal polls HYDERABAD: The much awaited Municipal results counting began this morning. The counting will almost end in a couple of hours and according to the trend existing now, Telugu Desam Party is clearly ahead in Seema Andhra region while Congress is leading the tally in Telangana
Till now TDP has won 61 municipalities in Seemandhra region, while YSR Congress managed to win 19 municipalities in the total of 92 municipalities. Congress till now has not opened its account in the region while others managed to win 9 municipalities.
What surprised many is the wave of TDP in majority districts as it didn't allow its rivals to win a single seat.The results came sudden shock to YSRCP as they publicized that they have strong backing among urban voters.
As per latest reports, The polling results for 90 Municipalities and 7 Corporations in Seemandhra, 56 Municipalities and 3 Corporations in Telangana have been announced .
Telugu Desam Party has come out victorious in 61 Municipalities (both Telangana and Seemandhra). While YSR Congress won 21 Municipalities, Congress and TRS bagged 17 and 3 Municipalities respectively.
TDP performed remarkably in Seemandhra and Telangana despite facing a biggest hurdle like bifurcation.
Out of 7 Corporations in Seemandhra, TDP bagged Five (Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada, Chittoor, Anantapur) and YSR Congress won in Two (Kadapa Corporation, Nellore Corporation)
Out of 92 Municipalities in Seemandhra, TDP won in 63, YSRCP won in 18 and hung in 11.
Veering towards Telangana, TRS pocketed Karimnagar Corporation. In Ramagundam and Nizamabad corporation, the decision depends on the support of independents.
