Our predictions came true says T Congress
Hyderabad, May 13 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Mohammed Ahmed Ali on Tuesday claimed that the predictions of Congress winning the municipal polls in Telangana came true with the party giving an impressive performance in almost all the districts of the region.
In a media statement, Ahmed Ali said that the impressive performance of Congress party in the municipal and local bodies elections is a clear indication that the TPCC leaders' predictions of achieving a comfortable majority in the Assembly elections too will come true.
He said that the people have voted in favour of Congress party after realising that it was AICC President Sonia Gandhi who granted statehood for the region.
The people of Telangana have outrightly rejected the false claims made by other parties and leaders over the formation of Telangana. He said the Congress honoured the sentiments of Telangana people and they reciprocated by voting in favour of Congress candidates.
Ahmed Ali completely dismissed the reports of a hung Assembly or fractured verdict in Telangana. He said that the results of municipal and local bodies elections have proved that the mood of the people was to vote in favour of Congress party.
He said that the results, to be declared on May 16, would stun all the critics of Congress party. He hoped that the Congress will win majority of Assembly seats to form the first government of Telangana. Similarly, the Congress party is expected to win a majority of Lok Sabha seats in Telangana region, he said.
Reacting to the Exit Polls released by different media groups predicting the victory of BJP-led NDA, the TPCC Spokesperson said that the Congress party has always believed in "Exact Polls" and not "Exit Polls".
He said similar Exit Polls done in 2004 and 2009 elections had predicted a rout for the Congress. However, the real results were completely different from the Exit Polls and the Congress was able to form the government twice. Similarly, the Congress party would lead the UPA Government at the Centre for the third consecutive term, he said.
