HYDERABAD: APSRTC, which has the largest bus fleet in the world, is going to be divided between AP and Telangana on June 2.

Designing of the organograms for two corporations is also complete. After the bifurcation, the APSRTC will have 122 bus depots in Andhra Pradesh state and the Telangana State RTC will have 94 bus depots. Similarly, the APSRTC will have four zones and TSRTC three.

Governor ESL Narasimhan reviewed the progress of the division work in various departments with officials on Wednesday. APSRTC managing director J Purnachandra Rao said the RTC is ready for division on the appointed day itself. The files were segregated and digitisation will be complete by May 16.

All assets and liabilities are bifurcated on the basis of provisional annual accounts for the year 2013-14. Designing of the organograms for the two corporations is also complete. After bifurcation, the bus depots will be allocated two successor states on as is where is basis.

Common Institutions

Meanwhile, officials informed the Governor that under Section 75 of Schedule 10, 107 institutions are listed and they would continue to offer their services to the people of both the states.

The entities listed in Schedule 10 are performing diversified activities, like regulatory work by AP Pollution Control Board, programme execution by SERP and Rajiv Vidya Mission, training by AP Police Academy, consultancy service by Centre for Good Governance and SC and ST commissions etc and awareness work by National Green Corps.

The officials said under the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, these institutions will continue to provide services to the people of the both the states for one year from the appointed day.

The officials suggested a common governance mechanism for managing the institutions like MCR-HRD, AP Police Academy, EPTRI and National Institute of Urban Management. However, this will be a transitory arrangement till the other state establishes its own facilities, the officials added.

Principal secretary (Industries) Pradeep Chandra said 20 companies under Schedule 9 are in advanced stage of bifurcation process. Principal secretary (Higher Education) Ajay Misra isaid that the State Council for Higher Education would continue to conduct the entrance tests for admission into institutions of higher education and render advice on admissions to both the states after June 2.
