Actors set to add glamour to AP Assembly Hyderabad: The newly formed Andhra Pradesh Assembly will have a touch of cine glamour yet again. Nandamuri Balakrishna, a popular Telugu actor and son of TDP founder president N T Rama Rao, will be making an impressive political debut as he won the Assembly election from Hindupur segment in Anantapuram district by a margin of over 16,900 votes.
Balakrishna, brother-in-law of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, entered the electoral fray for the first time though he had been one of the star campaigners for the party since its inception.
Hindupur Assembly segment was previously represented by N T Rama Rao himself and also Balakrishna's elder brother Harikrishna. On the other hand, luck finally smiled on yesteryear Telugu film heroine Roja as she succeeded in her third attempt to become a legislator. She won the Nagari Assembly seat as YSR Congress candidate this time, defeating veteran TDP legislator Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu on Friday. She twice lost the Assembly elections as TDP candidate from Nagari and Chandragiri segments in 2004 and 2009 assembly polls.
Veteran actor and film producer Maganti Muralimohan made it to the Lok Sabha in his second attempt as he won the Rajahmundry seat by a margin of over one lakh votes. Film actor and producer N Siva Prasad got re-elected from Chittoor Lok Sabha constituency.
