Jana Reddy may be the Leader of the Opposition? Hyderabad, May 17 (INN): Congress senior leader and former minister K Jana Reddy is most likely to get the post of Leader of the Opposition in Telangana Assembly.
The Congress party is likely to convene the meeting of its legislature party next week to elect a new CLP leader. According to sources, the Congress might shortlist three candidates for the post which include Jana Reddy, former minister Dr J Geetha Reddy and former Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
While Jana Reddy won the elections from Nagarjunasagar, Geetha Reddy won from Zaheerabad and Vikramarka got re-elected from Madhira Assembly segment. With 20 MLAs in the 119-member House, the Congress party is the second largest party after TRS which bagged 63 seats to form the government.
The TDP has 15 MLAs, MIM -7, BJP - 6, YSRCP - 3, Bahujan Samaj Party - 2 and CPI and CPI (M) have one MLA each in Telangana Assembly. One independent candidate - Donthi Madhava Reddy also got elected from Narsampet seat in Warangal dist.
