KCR busy finalising his team Hyderabad : The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which had got absolute majority to form the first government in Telangana and cleared the way for K Chandrashekar Rao to become the Chief Minister, is now focusing on structuring the cabinet as there is huge competition for the births in first cabinet.
The TRS chief will have to satisfy every section while allocating the cabinet births to the party leaders. While there are senior leaders lined up for the posts, the TRS chief has to take into consideration all equations, including caste and religion.
During the Telangana agitation, the TRS president had promised to make a Dalit as the Chief Minister. However, on Saturday, the legislative party has unanimously elected Chandrasekhar Rao as their leader and now it is imminent that he would be the Chief Minister.
Chandrasekhar Rao also made another promise of making a Muslim as the Deputy Chief Minister. However, he still has the option open.
According to sources, the TRS president may decide on having two Deputy Chief Minister's posts one each for Muslim and Dalit so that he can reduce the criticism of not living up to the promise.
Highly placed sources in TRS indicated that the party chief had decided on few names and was working out on caste equations before finalising the list.
As per the rules, the minister posts can be given to 18 members and sources said that the TRS chief may accommodate close to 10 persons in the first cabinet and retain remaining and expand in future.
Sources said that party's MLC Mahamood Ali would be the front runner for the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Similarly, another prominent leader from the Dalit community would be the other deputy to KCR.
Party sources also pointed out that former TRSLP leader E Rajender is likely to be given the portfolio of Revenue being a senior and a BC leader.
Two portfolios would be given under the MLC quota. Sources said that senior leader N Narasimha Reddy would also be accommodated in the cabinet by offering him the Labor portfolio.
Similarly, another senior leader T Harish Rao would be given portfolio of Irrigation. Two women candidates may figure in the cabinet and Konda Surekha, Padma Devender Reddy are likely to be inducted into KCR's team.
Others who are likely to get the minister's post are Md Shakil, Koppula Eshwar, T Padma Rao, Madhusudhana Chary, Swamy Goud, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao and others.
TRS chief son and Sircilla MLA K T Rama Rao may not have birth in his father's cabinet as this would give opportunity for the opposition for criticism.
