Palvai blames Ponnala, Jana for Cong's rout HYDERABAD: Now all eyes are on the future political moves of Telangana PCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah during whose leadership the party faced a humiliating defeat at the just-held general election in Telangana.
'Will Ponnala resign from his post and accept responsibility of party's poor show in the polls? Or will he prefer to lead the party in the new state?' is the question doing the rounds.
As the Congress has failed to win a significant number of seats despite the fact that the party has fulfilled the long-cherished dream of Telangana people to have their own state, some senior leaders have begun openly demanding Ponnala's resignation.
For instance, a day after the results of the polls had been out, veteran Palvai Govardhan Reddy attacked the TPCC chief for the party's dismal performance at the hustings.
The Rajya Sabha member came down heavily on Ponnala accusing him of selling the party ticket. 'Ponnala has not only lost the election himself but also led the party to a humiliating drubbing. He is unfit to be the president of Congress,' Reddy thundered and demanded his immediate resignation.
