Political leaders rush to Tirumala after polls TIRUMALA: The sacred Tirumala Hills, which are witnessing heavy rush of pilgrims from the past few days, witnessed another kind of rush on Sunday. A bunch of political leaders visited the temple on Sunday.
The politicians who spent busy time in electioneering and waited for results till Friday, reached the Hills and offered thanksgiving prayers to the Lord on Sunday morning during the VIP break time.
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who arrived at the temple town on Saturday evening, had the darshan of Lord on Sunday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as well as the TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on winning the elections with comfortable majorities and exuded confidence that both the leaders will develop the nation and state respectively.
Among the other politicians who offered prayers are Nellore YSRC MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, newly elected MLAs RK Roja and Dhulipala Narendra and former minister DL Ravindra Reddy and others. The visit of a good number of VIPs added to the pilgrim rush.
