Nama blamed for TDP's debacle in Khammam KHAMMAM: In an apparent attempt to gain control over party affairs in the district, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) heavyweight Tummala Nageswara Rao has squarely blamed Nama Nageswara Rao for the party's rout in the just-concluded Assembly and general elections. Both the leaders were defeated in the elections.
Unable to digest his defeat in the Khammam Assembly seat by Congress candidate Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Tummala Nageswara Rao has resorted to a direct attack on his party leader and MP contestant Nama Nageswara Rao in front of the former's office in Khammam town.
Later, speaking to newsmen, Tummala Nageswara Rao alleged that some senior leaders were working against the party's interests as they had joined hands with the opponent parties.
Making an oblique reference to Nama Nageswara Rao, he alleged that some leaders, who entered the party a few years ago, were indulging in 'political prostitution' to cause harm to the party.
Alleging that some leaders had never bothered to think about the plight of party workers who were striving to strengthen the party, he said that the leaders had contributed their part for destruction of the party in the district.
Meanwhile, one of the followers of Tummala Nageswara Rao, G Hari Krishna, attacked Telugu Nadu Students' Federation (TNSF) district president, Krishna Chaitanya alleging that the latter had encouraged cross-voting against Tummala Nageswara Rao in Khammam MLA constituency.
MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, who tried to pacify the warring groups, was slapped by the party activists. The incident took place soon after Tummala left the place.
Tummala Nageswara Rao's followers further alleged that the MP contestant Nama Nageswara Rao had conspired to defeat their leader.
Though Nama Nageswara Rao too suffered defeat in the Khammam MP constituency, Tummala Nageswara Rao's followers firmly believe that Nama Nageswara Rao had worked for their leader's defeat.
