BJP not keen on Jagan' support New Delhi: YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy has offered unsolicited support to the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Jagan, who was in the capital for a flying visit on Monday, met PM-elect Narendra Modi in Gujarat Bhavan on Monday afternoon.
He said his party would extend 'issue-based support' to the NDA government. When pointed out that the NDA on its own had the strength of 334 plus members and the number of BJP MPs was well past the magic figure, Jagan said it was not about the stability of the government.
He said his support to Modi was in the interest of Andhra Pradesh which needed all-out help from the Centre post-bifurcation.
Sources in the BJP said they did not mind any non-Congress outfit supporting them in Parliament, but it would not be possible to have much of an understanding with the party as the TDP would form the government in Seemandhra and the BJP is already in a pre-poll alliance with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
Besides, the BJP would also be a partner in the state government even though a small one. The BJP feels Jagan's unilateral enthusiasm is primarily due to the spectre of CBI cases hanging on him.
However, highly placed sources in the BJP said while the party does not believe in witch-hunting, the law would take its own course. Later, Jagan also met BJP chief Rajnath Singh. He termed it a courtesy call.
Interestingly, the YCP leader had met Rajnath before the elections also in order to forge an understanding with the party but the BJP was not too keen as it was already in talks with its old time ally TDP.
