APTDC plans to set up Shilparamam in Vijayawada VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) vice-chairman KS Reddy said that they were taking measures for setting up Shilparamam, the arts and crafts village, on the Bhavani island, and also a ropeway from Berm Park to the Bhavani island at the earliest after visiting the island along with some officials.
He told mediapersons that they were going to set up Shilparamam in 20 acres and the Centre had released `5 crore under the 13th Finance Commission plan. It may be recalled here that the project had been hanging fire for a long time as the officials could not find suitable land. APTDC finally decided to set up Shilparaman on the 133-acre island.
He also said that the ropeway with a cable car now will be launched between Haritha Berm Park and the Bhavani island. The project is being taken up on a PPP (Private-Public Partnership) mode and many private cable car companies are ready to invest, according to the Tourism officials.
