Mild tremors felt in North Andhra VISAKHAPATNAM: Mild tremors were felt at several places in north coastal Andhra and the twin Godavari districts on Wednesday night, sending people into a tizzy.
Officials of Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) said the tremors were felt also at several places across the country around 9.51 pm and the epicentre was identified in the Bay of Bengal.
An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude on Richter scale with the epicentre in the Bay of Bengal was recorded by INCOIS for about 30 seconds. However, there is no threat of tsunami, the INCOIS authorities said on the official website.
Sources said that the epicentre was located at about 150 km off Visakhapatnam coast and at about 275 km southeast of Paradip port in Odisha.
VIJAYAWADA: Mild tremors were felt at Kaikaluru, Gudivada, Pamarru and Vijayawada. In Guntur district, Repalle, Bapatla and other areas near the coast were rocked for four to five seconds.
