Metro Rail cars arrive in Hyderabad HYDERABAD: Three rail cars for the first metro train for Hyderabad Metro Rail Project arrived at the Uppal Depot on Wednesday. The first rolling stock was shipped from Korea to India on April 25 after successful completion of factory acceptance tests.
After travelling for about two weeks by sea, the consignment arrived at Chennai port on May 9. After the customs clearance, the three rail cars moved from Chennai to Hyderabad by road and reached HMR Uppal depot on May 21.
Congratulating L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited on successfully bringing the first train to Hyderabad as per schedule, NVS Reddy, MD, HMRL, said, 'It is a proud moment for all Hyderabadis and it is the beginning of a new era in the transportation history of city.'
Speaking on the occasion, VB Gadgil, chief executive & managing director, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited, said, 'It is a milestone for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project and we are ahead of time in bringing the trains to Hyderabad.'
