Eight border check-posts after split Hyderabad: Government issued orders for establishing eight cross-border checkposts on either side of the borders between Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh.
Keeping in view bifurcation of the State, Transport Commissioner G Anantha Ramu wrote to government in April requesting him to permit the establishment of cross-border check posts and also to utilise the services of Motor Vehicle Inspectors and Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors, constables/ home guards for operating these checkposts from the districts concerned. The States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh would come into existence from June 2.
The check posts would be established at NH-7 road at Alampur X road (Mahabubnagar district) in Telangana and near Kurnool in Kurnool district, at the Kalwakurthy-Srisailam road- near Eegala Penta (Mahabubnagar district) in Telangana and near Sunnipeta in Kurnool district, at the Devarkonda-Macherla road near Nagarjunasagar (Nalgonda) and near Macherla (in Guntur), at the Miryalaguda-Hyderabad road near Vishnupuram (Nalgonda) and Near Dachepalli (Guntur), at the Vijayawada-Hyderabad road near Kodad (Nalgonda) and near Garikapadu (Krishna).
On the Khammam- Tiruvuru road near Kallur (Khammam) and near Tiruvuru (Krishna), Khammam- Rajahmundry road near Aswaraopet (Khammam) and near Jeelugumilli (West Godavari) and at the NH Kothagudem-Jagdalpur near Palvancha (Khammam) and near Chintoor and Maredumilli (East Godavari).
The existing check post at Shahpur (Ranga Reddy) would be shifted to Alampur X roads in Mahabubnagar district. Similarly, the existing check posts near Garikapadu in Krishna district (AP) and near Palvancha in Khammam district (Telangana) would be utilised for this purpose.
Officials said that the movement of motor vehicles across the new border between these two successor states becomes inter-state movement. The government has allowed the Transport Commissioner to utilise the services of MVIs/AMVIs, home guards for operating these check posts.
