Naidu to take oath after June 8 HYDERABAD: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is unlikely to be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of residuary State of Andhra Pradesh until June 8. According to sources, priests close to Naidu are suggesting to him to take oath only after June 8 as there are no suitable auspicious days before that date.
Following the advice, the TDP chief is understood to be planning his swearing-in ceremony only after June 8. As for the place where the TDP chief will take oath, Naidu is said to be in favour of a location between Vijayawada and Guntur.
As Naidu has decided to work as CM from Nagarjuna University campus at Mangalagiri, which is between Vijayawada and Guntur, he feels a place close to it will be an appropriate venue for the swearing-in.
According to sources, Naidu is contemplating to locate the new capital very close to Vijayawada.
Sources said the TDP boss is firm on building the new capital in the Eluru-Vijayawada-Guntur stretch as the TDP had fared very well in Coastal Andhra districts in the recent general polls.
Vijayawada is centrally located for the people of both North Andhra and Rayalaseema and well connected by road, rail and air. Another reason is said to be that the entire stretch is dominated by Kammas, TDP's traditional vote bank.
Sources say the TDP chief is planning to pick Bapulapadu, a mandal headquarters in Krishna district, as the new capital. Bordering West Godavari district, it is about 25 km from Hanuman Junction on NH 16.
Sources say Naidu is zeroing in on Bapulapadu as it has degraded forest area of over 20,000 acres, which can be de-notified to begin construction of the new capital city immediately.
