TDP eyes one cabinet, three MoS berths HYDERABAD: At a time when several newly-elected Lok Sabha members, along with Rajya Sabha members, of the TDP are eyeing Union cabinet berths, party chief N Chandrababu Naidu will be leaving for Delhi on Saturday to meet prime minister-designate Narendra Modi.
Though the TDP leadership is hopeful of at least four berths, the BJP leadership has sounded it that only three _ one cabinet and two ministers of state _ could be given to its ally.
Naidu, who is all set to become the first chief minister of residual Andhra Pradesh, is understood to be thinking of recommending the name of his senior colleague P Ashok Gajapati Raju (Vizianagaram) for the cabinet minister's post and is considering the names of RS member YV Satyanarayana Chowdary, M Murali Mohan (Rajahmundry LS) and Nimmala Kistappa (Hindupur LS) from Seemandhra and Ch Malla Reddy (Malkajgiri LS)from Telangana for induction as ministers of state.
However, almost every new MP of the party is trying to wheedle the TDP boss into recommending their name for a cabinet berth. Naidu, who will be leaving for Delhi on Saturday evening, will stay put in the national capital till May 26 the day when Modi will be sworn in as the next prime minister.
As for the state BJP leaders, they feel that their party's newly-elected MP K Haribabu (Visakhapatnam) and party veteran B Dattatreya (Secunderabad) might be inducted into the cabinet to represent Seemandhra and Telangana respectively whereas their senior colleague M Venkaiah Naidu is expected to be part of the cabinet from the Karnataka which he is representing in the Rajya Sabha.
BJP Probables
■ K Haribabu
■ B Dattatreya
