TDP MLA's gunmen foil attack attempt KURNOOL: Alert gunmen of Banaganepalle TDP MLA B C Janardhan Reddy thwarted an attack on the MLA by the henchmen of former MLA Katasani Ramireddy belonging to the YSRC at Gorlagutta.
In the process, they managed to nab two of the attackers, whom they later handed over to the Bethamcherla police.
According to information reaching here, Janardhna Reddy was going to Kurnool from Bethamcherla, along with his followers in a convoy of four vehicles, on Friday evening to attend a party meeting in the district headquarters.
Katasani's henchmen started following Janardhna Reddy's convoy at Enakandla Cross-Road. When they tried to ram their vehicle into the convoy on the Gorlagutta Ghat Road, Janardhana Reddy's gunmen not only foiled their move but also managed to nab two of the attackers, including a driver -- Rammohan Reddy and Khaja. The gunmen then took the attackers to Bethemcherla and handed them over to the police there.
Later, Janardhana Reddy proceeded to Kurnool where he attended the party meeting. The Bethemcherla police have registered a case and an enquiry is on, according to CI Subrahmanyam.
TDP district president Somisetty Venkateswarlu condemned the attack bid and added that the TDP men were not afraid of the YSRCP goons. He, however, demanded that the district administration should take serious action against the YSRC leaders who continued to indulge in factionalism.
