Power staff goes on strike from today HYDERABAD: Power sector employees begin a flash strike from Sunday in protest against the state government's refusal to make an agreement with them on new Pay Revision Commission (PRC).
'All Andhra and Telanagana employees will participate in the strike in all 23 districts,' employees' leader Sai Babu told.
Though the state government agreed to revision of scales in APTransco, APGenco and Discoms, employees are demanding that an agreement be reached between the government and employees' unions.
Recently, officials have agreed to give 27.5 per cent fitment to the employees. They also agreed to give two special increments to those whose service is below 15 years and three special increments to the employees whose service is more than 15 years.
The government has also agreed to pay 'equal salary for equal work'. The employees agreed to all these benefits but insisted that the government reach an official agreement with them and start implementing it now itself before the state gets divided.
'When the matter was taken up with the governor, he refused to enter into an agreement with us,' a leader said.
Sources said that the governor wanted to submit the report to successor States of AP and Telangana, which may take decisions on the PRC report depending on their financial status. But employees of power sector protested against it.
The government should enter into an agreement with unions immediately and implement the new pay-scales in the united state itself.
