Naidu demands financial aid to Andhra Pradesh HYDERABAD: Crying foul over the way distribution of employees, and assets and liabilities is being done between Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh, chief minister-designate of the latter N Chandrababu Naidu alleged the UPA-II dispensation had resorted to a 'mischievous act' against Seemandhra while dividing the State.
'The government did not stick to a particular parameter while dividing key elements like assets and liabilities and power utilities.
For instance, while dividing liabilities, the Centre took population as the parameter. But, it did not stick to the same while allocating the entire revenue of Hyderabad to Telangana,' he said.
The UPA government had allocated power between Seemandhra and Telangana considering consumption as the criterion, not population ratio, he added.
Speaking to reporters along with Union Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju in Delhi on Monday night, the TDP chief said all these irregularities had come to his notice only after he was briefed by Chief Secretary PK Mohanty.
Stating that Ashok Gajapathi Raju would raise all these issues before Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the first meeting of the Union Cabinet on Tuesday, Naidu, however, said, 'We won't ask the PM for any share in the revenue of Hyderabad. But, we will request him to compensate Seemandhra.'
'The Centre should provide financial grants to Seemandhra till it overcomes revenue deficit and matches with Telangana in every aspect. The special status granted to residuary AP is not sufficient. It should be extended to 15 years to create a level-playing field with the T-State,' he demanded.
Stating that the TDP had become part of Modi's government to get more funds for the new states of AP and Telangana, Naidu said he would recommend TDP Rajya Sabha member YV Satyanarayana Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary for a berth in the Modi Cabinet when it is expanded.
