KCR calls for Telangana Bandh Hyderabad: The animosities of the ruling parties in Telangana and residuary state oof AP have surfaced once again and this time Polavaram caused the war between Telugu states. In the wake of central government's ordinance merging seven mandals of Telangana into Seemandhra as fallout of the Polavaram project Telangana Chief Minister designate K Chandrasekhar Rao has called for a bandh on Thursday.
KCR gave this bandh call protesting against the ordinance on Polavaram project that will see the transfer of seven mandals, 136 villages, and 211 hamlets of Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh. This was the first bandh call given by KCR after Telangana formation.
KCR has reacted angrily on center's decision and he alleged that Chandrababu and Venkaiaha Naidu are pushing Modi's government to unlawfully include few villages of Bhadrachalam in to Seema Andhra so that Polavaram project gets materialized.
However Chandrababu Naidu alleges that KCR and TRS is making unnecessary controversy out of the project for political gains. He promised that his government will take care of the rehabilitation of the submerging villages due to the project.
Polavaram project is taken up as the national project by the previous UPA government during the state bifurcation. The project if finished will give lot of benefits to farmers in Godavari basin.
Since the TRS has come to power on its own in Telangana, the bandh is likely to be a success. Several Telangana organizations, including TNGOs, OUJAC, KUJAC, Teachers JAC, Advocates JAC, Electricity Employees JAC have extended their support to tomorrow's Bandh.
