Arrangements for Naidu coronation underway GUNTUR: The district administration is gearing up for swearing-in ceremony of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on June 8. Collector S Suresh Kumar, along with Guntur Range inspector general of police (IGP) P Sunil Kumar, inspected the land opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU).
The venue of the swearing-in ceremony is located between Vijayawada and Guntur on NH5. It is at a distance of 20 km from Vijayawada and about 15 km from Guntur. It is being used for public meetings and it is where TDP held the 'Yuva Garjana' programme in 2008. The venue is a 78-acre site and it can accommodate five lakh people.
Suresh Kumar ordered the officials to make arrangements for about five lakh people keeping in view the capacity of the ground. He was particular about traffic arrangements and instructed the Police Department to make elaborate arrangements to avoid traffic jams not just at the venue but also on the Vijayawada-Guntur highway as heavy flow of vehicles is expected.
Besides security and seating arrangements, the collector reviewed the parking arrangements. He ordered the officials to allot separate parking spaces on both sides of the venue for vehicles coming from Vijayawada and Guntur side.
Joint collector Vivek Yadav and Guntur Rural SP J Satyanarayana, along with other district officials, were present at the venue on the occasion.
