Goodbye to Prez rule in Telangana Hyderabad : Addressing his last press conference in his stint under the President's rule, the Governor ESL Narasimhan on Saturday exuded confidence that both Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh states would equally prosper in the days ahead.
The spell of President's rule will come to an end on June 2, the appointed day for bifurcation of AP into Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh states. Narasimhan will hold the additional charge as Governor of Telangana.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao will be sworn-in as the first Chief Minister of Telangana State on June 2.
'I will take oath of office as Governor of new Telangana State in additional capacity at Raj Bhavan at 6.30 am before KCR takes oath at 8.15 am', Narasimhan said.
The Telugu Desam Party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of residuary Andhra Pradesh on June 8. Till then, the truncated AP will be under President's Rule, the Governor said.
'I hope that the media will also continue to cooperate in the development and prosperity of the two states,' he said. Replying to a question, Narasimhan said that he had submitted detailed reports on bifurcation to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governor politely declined to give rating on the performance of three chief ministers of AP, including late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, K Rosaiah and N Kiran Kumar Reddy. 'Being the Governor, I cannot make such statements', he added.
On power allocation between the two states, Narasimhan said the Telangana State, which lacks resources, needs more power, while AP with adequate resources needs less power.
Based on this, power was allocated to them, he said. Refusing to comment on criticism against him during the peak of the Telangana movement, he thanked all those who supported him during his four year stint as the Governor.
'I could maintain law and order for four years without a bullet being fired, but last two years witnessed some difficulties related to statehood demand', he said.
