KCR sets agenda for govt HYDERABAD : The Telangana Rashtra Samithi government in the newly formed Telangana State would steadfastly focus on welfare of the weaker sections and all round development to meet the aspirations of the people.
Emphasis would be laid on boosting the economy of the State while creation of irrigation facilities and employment opportunities would be on top of the government's agenda, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said at the first cabinet meeting he chaired after taking over the reins of the new State.
Though the meeting was an informal one, it, nonetheless, set the tone for the governance priorities. KCR said that the functioning of the government should be in such a way that the people should be convinced about the sincerity and commitment of TRS in providing transparent and responsive administration.
The Chief Minister told his colleagues that a full-fledged Cabinet meeting would be held soon with detailed agenda to discuss the priorities of the government.
He reminded them that the people had pinned lot of hopes on the TRS government and it was their responsibility to work earnestly to fulfill their aspirations.
The first Cabinet meet endorsed the official emblem of the Telangana government. It was decided to hold the Assembly meeting from June 9. Final decision will be taken in the next cabinet meeting.
Earlier, KCR reached secretariat around 12 pm after addressing the formation day celebrations at Parade Grounds. He was given a rousing welcome by the employees of the secretariat and officials.
He prayed at the Nalla Pochamma temple in the secretariat premises. The Chief Minister also participated in a meeting organized by the employees and gave a pep talk to them. Later, he went to his office in C block and took charge as the Chief Minister.
Later, the ministers told media that the focus of the government would be realizing the dreams of the people of Telangana. Minister KT Rama Rao said that government would ensure that development and welfare would go hand in hand.
He said that earnest efforts would be made to attract domestic and foreign investments in the city. While taking care of the families of the Telangana martyrs, the government would also provide relief to the Telangana protagonists who were booked under various cases during the agitation. He said that the first full-fledged cabinet meeting would have a detailed agenda.
