KCR to meet Modi, seeking funds HYDERABAD: Taking up the gauntlet thrown by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to compete with him, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have decided it's time to be proactive and extract Telangana's due from the Centre.
Accordingly, he is planning a visit to Delhi on June 6 or 7 to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and submit a 'wish list.'
KCR has sought an appointment with Modi after June 6 so as to have a one-on-one with him and explain the need to grant funds for the development of the new State.
KCR, on his maiden visit to the national capital after becoming the Chief Minister, is also expected to invite the Prime Minister for the official State Formation celebrations, likely to be held later this month on a grand scale.
During his Delhi Yatra, KCR will also meet key Union Ministers and officials of the various departments and discuss with them ongoing and upcoming projects in Telangana.
KCR, party insiders said, will seek help from the Centre to fulfil his poll promises like waiver of crop loans, two-bedroom houses to the weaker sections and financial help for ongoing irrigation projects. Persuading the Centre to declare the Pranahita-Chevella lift-irrigation project as a national project is also high on his agenda.
KCR has already asked his party MPs to raise the problems being faced by the new State in Parliament to attract the attention of the Central government and extract a good financial package.
KCR will be holding a meeting with State level bankers in Hyderabad within a couple of days to discuss modalities of farm loan waiver, his main poll promise.
