Naidu alone will take oath TIRUPATI: TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday vowed to transform Seemandhra into Swarnaandhra and keep his poll promises like waiver of Dwcra and agriculture loans.
Addressing party MLAs at Sri Srinivasa Auditorium on the SVU campus in Tirupati after being elected as the TDP Legislature Party leader, he said, 'There are several challenges before the new State. I am confident of transforming the State into Swarnaandhra and develop it on a par with Singapore.'
Pointing out that this was the first time he was elected TDLP leader outside the State capital, he assured the legislators he would keep every one of his poll promises.
Interestingly, he also clarified he had invited the PM and several CMs for his swearing-in not to show off but to seek their support.
'At the same time, we are at a historic juncture. Just like the then PM Nehru visited the State when AP was formed, the present PM should visit now and witness the historic moment,' he said.
Party senior legislator KE Krishna Murthy proposed Naidu's name and was seconded by all the other MLAs, paving the way for him to be the first CM of the residuary State.
The MLAs are expected to call on the Governor in a day or two to inform him of Naidu's election. Thereafter, the Governor will invite the TDP chief to form the government.
Naidu's swearing-in, slated for June 8, sources said, is going to be a one-man show. Naidu may be the only one to take oath. His Cabinet may be sworn in either on June 10 or 12 in Hyderabad.
Party insiders told Naidu doesn't want to cause inconvenience to VIPs expected to attend his swearing-in ' he will take oath at exactly 7.27 p.m.
Interestingly, the TDP is hiring seven special aircraft to ferry national leaders from Hyderabad to the Gannavaram airport.
Sujana chowdary elected TDPP leader
Rajya Sabha member Y Satyanarayana Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary has been elected TDP Parliamentary Party leader. Thota Narasimham will be TDP's leader in the Lok Sabha, while Devender Goud will be his counterpart in the Rajya Sabha.
