Inter-caste marriage leads to kidnapping ELURU: An inter-caste marriage led to a kidnap, creating sensation in the city Wednesday. The girl's family members allegedly abducted father and brother of her husband. While the brother managed to escape, his father is still with the kidnappers.
According to the police, CH Kiran (26) of Telaprolu village in Krishna district and B Gowthami (22) of Gurajala mandal in Guntur fell in love while they were pursuing engineering. They both landed jobs in Hyderabad a year ago. Recently, their affair came to the notice of the girl's parents and they rejected their marriage proposal.
But, Gowthami married Kiran in Hyderabad on May 15. The couple spent two days at Kiran's brother Chinna Rao's house in Satrampadu and went back to Hyderabad.
Wednesday, some persons, in the guise of police, called on Kiran's parents in Telaprolu and asked them to show their son's marriage certificate.
When Kiran's father Iswar Rao and brother Srinivasa Rao said that the certificate was in Satrampadu, they dragged the duo out of the house and whisked them away in a car.
When the car stopped at the tollgate en route Vijayawada, Srinivasa escaped and reached the government hospital and informed the police.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers called Kiran and threatened to kill his father if he did not surrender Gowthami to them. Police have registered a case.
