Namaste Telangana chairman joins BJP Hyderabad, June 5: Chairman and Managing director of Namaste Telangana telugu daily CL Rajam gave a shock to TRS Chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar rao. He joined BJP in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh yesterday. He said that he has joined BJP because he is inspired from Prime Minister Narendra Modi working style.
Further, Rajam said that he would serve the nation through Bharatiya Janata Party. He said his decision was completely apolitical and Namasthe Telangana was the people's news daily and joining BJP was his personal affair.
CL Rajam is one of the close associates of KCR and is one of the directors of SEW Infrastructure whose name was involved in Polvaram tenders controversy.
Namaste Telangana consistently opposing the Polavaram Dam coming up in West Godavari district. It argued that the dam would only benefit coastal Andhra districts and not the five districts of Telangana through which the river passes.
But a day after the contract was awarded, the lead story in the newspaper praised the government for awarding the contract to SEW Infrastructure. Taking the issue to headlines TDP alleged that TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao is being given contracts by the Congress government to call off the Telangana agitation.
KCR has reportedly invested Rs 4.12 crore and owns 41.25 lakh shares in Telangana Publications and now speculations were rife that the head of the paper was likely to be changed soon.
