KCR rushes home minister Nayani to HP Hyderabad: The first official Cabinet meeting of the Telangana government on Sunday was marred by the incident in which many engineering students from city were washed away in Himachal Pradesh.
The Cabinet met to approve the Governor's draft address to the joint session of Telangana Legislature. While, the Cabinet was discussing the issues likely to come up in the first session of Telangana Assembly, the shocking news reached the Chief Minister and ministers.
Earlier, the Cabinet approved the draft of Governor's address to the joint session of the State Legislature. The Cabinet has taken a decision to nominate an Anglo-Indian as Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly under Article 333 of the Constitution of India.
The Cabinet also discussed the filling of vacancies to the Telangana Legislative Council to be nominated by the Governor. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his Cabinet colleagues expressed shock and deep anguish over the incident.
The Chief Minister directed the authorities to send a team headed by Home Minister along with BR Meena, IAS, Principal Secretary, Revenue and Kartikeyan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Grey Hounds, to Himachal Pradesh to take stock of the situation.
The Chief Minister also directed the Chief Secretary to be in touch with his counterpart of Himachal Pradesh to expedite the rescue operations and to keep the details updated from time to time. He has also instructed the Resident Commissioner, New Delhi to coordinate with the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
