Naidu mulls clubbing of portfolios HYDERABAD: Taking a leaf out of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's book, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is neck-deep in the exercise of integrating portfolios to ensure effective administration.
According to sources, Nadiu, who wants to leave his mark on administration in the truncated state of Andhra Pradesh, has held back announcement on portfolios to his ministers as he is yet complete the exercise.
Usually, within hours of swearing-in, ministers are allotted portfolios. Though Naidu's 19-member cabinet was sworn in at a glittering function in Gutur district on Sunday, he is yet to assign them portfolios.
Naidu conferred with his ministers individually and is understood to have handed out a veiled warning that if they did not perform, they would be eased out mercilessly. He told them that they would have to meet at least up to 80 per cent of the expectations of the people.
He told them clearly that they would have to work as one team and that he was not in a mood to tolerate squabbles among them. He told them that if the TDP came to power, it was because of the TDP's track record on development and the ministers should strive to further refurbish the image of the party and the government.
Chandrababu Naidu told the ministers that regardless of which portfolio they would get, they should work with a sense of dedication and devotion.
At his meeting with Paritala Suneetha, Naidu complimented her for her loyalty to the Telugu Desam and how her late husband Ravindra had served the party and the people.
After meeting Naidu, minister Ganta Srinviasa Rao said that Naidu desired that a white paper be issued on state's finances to make people understand where the state stood.
Though it has not been decided yet, Naidu is considering assigning home department to Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, finance to Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, roads and buildings to Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, irrigation to Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and investments to Ganta Srinivasa Rao.
