KCR asks officials to complete admissions on time


 
HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has instructed officials to take immediate necessary steps to complete admission process in engineering and medical colleges in the state within the scheduled time.

At a review on medical and engineering admissions with officials at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, the chief minister instructed the officials to have a dialogue with the representatives of private college managements on filling leftover seats by the students of neighbouring states.

The chief minister also reviewed on Information Technology and Investment Region policy (ITIR) sanctioned by the Centre to Hyderabad for expansion of IT hub at Gachibowli, Maheshwaram and Pocharam. Chandrasekhar Rao instructed the officials to draft a master plan by engaging International standard consultants involving GHMC, HMDA, HMWSS&B, APIIC, revenue, electricity, HMR and Sports departments for providing roads, electricity, underground drainage, transport, health city, education and other basic amenities, duly connecting ORR and radial ring roads.

With this prestigious ITIR corridor, Hyderabad will become economic backbone of Telangana, the chief minister remarked. Panchayat raj and information technology minister K Taraka Rama Rao suggested to establish Institute of Innovation for training engineering students to compete with global standards and a separate authority for ITIR project for creating hub for electronic hardware manufacturing units cluster.

Several prestigious firms were coming forward to provide 4-G technology for making total Hyderabad WIFI enabled city, the minister said. Harpreet Singh, secretary, Information Technology & Communications, informed the chief minister that 90 per cent of the turnover of IT sector was coming from Hyderabad with a total turnover of Rs 62,293 crore.

Hyderabad was the second largest city of IT exports in the country. He said that there was a lot of scope for further development of IT sector in software and hardware technology in the city.

The chief minister also reviewed various schemes that were being implemented in Panchayat Raj, Rural Development and Rural Water Supply departments in the state.

He instructed to draft an action plan for improving roads, water supply, sewerage and other basic amenities in the state on top priority. Principal secretary Raymond Peter (PR&RD) informed that there are 19,373 km CC & BT roads, 13,254 km WBM roads, 12,140 km gravel and 16,995 km earthen roads and 1,678 habitations were not connected with roads.

The chief minister suggested the officials to concentrate more on the supply of water from irrigation projects, minor irrigation tanks and canals through natural gravity instead of lifting the water to minimise the expenditure on the lines of Jurala project which supplies Irrigation and drinking water to four districts through gravity. He also suggested that 10 per cent of irrigation water has to be utilised for supplying of protected drinking water

Govt to Replicate Siddipet Model of Safe Drinking Water

Whether the state government replicate the Siddipet model of safe drinking water scheme in the entire Telagnana villages?.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who implemented a safe drinking water project in Siddipet in a successful manner when he was Siddpet MLA, now wanted to replicate the same in the state.

During a review meeting with officials, the chief minister reportedly recalled the Siddipet model of drinking water supply and wanted the officials to replicate the same in all the villages in Telangana state in a phased manner.

The chief minister was determined to provide safe drinking water to every village in the State. KCR was also determined to bring more funds from the Centre under various heads for rural development.

The state was also planning to take up a massive plantation programme and to plant around 7 crore saplings. The chief minister reportedly directed the officials not to permit the educational institutions to conduct tours without following the norms.

He enquired about the rules and procedures for the educational institutions for conducting tours outside the state, in the wake of tragic incident in Himachal Pradesh.
