New AP Capital panel meets Naidu Hyderabad, June 14 (INN): The Sivaramakrishnan Committee on Saturday made a power point presentation to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on the new capital of residuary State.
The members of the Committee, which was appointed to search a new capital for Andhra Pradesh, had a detailed discussion with Naidu on the suitable locations.
They briefed the Chief Minister on the outcome of their visits to different places in Seemandhra region in search for the new capital.
They told Naidu that they already visited cities including Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry and Vijayawada and interacted with experts on the issue.
According to sources, Naidu sought to know the viability of setting up the new capital between Vijayawada and Guntur cities. Further, it was also discussed whether to develop an existing city instead of constructing a new capital from the scratch.
Committee to continue deliberations on new capital
The Sivaramakrishna Committee, which was set up to finalise the location of new capital of residuary State of Andhra Pradesh, will continue its exercise of holding consultations with experts on the issue.
The Committee members said that the location for the new capital is yet to be finalised. However, they said that the State Government may take the final call on the location of new capital. They also denied reports that Naidu suggested new capital between Vijayawada and Guntur cities.
The committee members said that the location for new capital would be finalised by August 31 this year. The committee will visit Central Andhra in the next two-three weeks.
