Kodali Nani likely be YSRC Dy floor leader VIJAYAWADA: Gudivada MLA-elect Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao aka Nani may be elected as the YSRCP deputy floor leader in the Assembly.
Nani, it is learnt, was assured of the post by party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during his visit to Gudivada recently. The decision was also reportedly announced at the party's review meeting in Vijayawada Saturday.
The selection of Kodali Nani for the post has come as a surprise to several leaders in the party as Nani does not have much recognition outside his constituency.
Party sources say that Jagan had taken the decision out of compulsion as Nani, a Kamma leader from the district, is allegedly gravitating towards his parental organisation, the Telugu Desam party, after the YSRC's poor performance in the elections.
Meanwhile, industrialist-turned-politician Koneru Rajendra Prasad (KRP), who contested the Parliamentary elections from Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency as YSRC nominee and got defeated by the TDP candidate Kesineni Srinivas aka Nani, is reportedly eyeing the Rajya Sabha seat.
On the other hand, former minister Kolusu Parthasarthy, who suffered a defeat in the elections from Machilipatnam Lok Sabha constituency, may be appointed as the party district convener in place of Samineni Udaya bhanu, who was defeated from Jaggaiahpet Assembly constituency.
It may be recalled here that YSRC has won only five MLA seats as against the total 16 MLA seats in Krishna district and it has also suffered a defeat in two MP seats Vijayawada and Machipatnam.
In view of this, party president Jagan Mohan Reddy organised a meeting to analyse the failure. But it is learnt that the meeting has turned out to be a mere formality than a real review of the failures.
'The party workers and second-rung leaders wanted to share their views on the party's failure. 'But they could not do so as the leaders, who had suffered defeat, occupied the chairs on the dais,' said a senior leader.
