Monsoon to Telangana in 3 days Hyderabad : With the weakening of cyclone in the Arabian Sea, IMD department officials said on Sunday that the Southwest Monsoon would hit Telangana within the next three or four days.
The Meteorological department has also forecasted that both Telangana state and residuary Andhra Pradesh would be receiving below normal rainfall of 93 per cent this year.
The Southwest monsoon is caused by the winds that carry moisture from the Arabian Sea driving from the south west direction, they said.
However, the cyclone which formed in the Arabian Sea had weakened the progress of the southwest monsoon; thereby the delay has been caused, said IMD Hyderabad Assistant Meteorologist M Narasimha Rao.
'The southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of Rayalaseema, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh like Nandyala and Bapatla and the advancement of the monsoon in Telangana is forecasted for the next 72 hours,' Rao said.
He said that this year the rainfall in the southern peninsula would be below normal, unlike previous year where the state received normal rainfall of 96 per cent.
He said that the Met Department (IMD) defines average or normal rainfall as between 96 per cent and 104 per cent of a 50-year average of 89 cm for the entire season.
He observed that last year, coastal Andhra received 524.1 mm rainfall against its annual average of 580.8 mm rainfall, while Rayalaseema received 420.3 mm rainfall against its average annual rainfall of 398.6 mm.
Whereas Telangana received excess rainfall, registering 949.7 mm rainfall against its average annual rainfall of 755.1 mm.
Meanwhile on Sunday, in Telangana, Sadasivnagar (Nizamabad district) received highest rainfall of 3 cm followed by Pitlam (Nizamabad district) and Nandipet (Nizamabad district) which received 2 cm rainfall. While Adilabad , Kamareddy (Nizamabad district) , Lingampet (Nizamabad district) , Gandhari (Nizamabad district) , Nirmal (Adilabad district) , Yellareddy (Nizamabad district) , Adilabad(a) (Adilabad district) , Banswada (Nizamabad district) , Tadwai (Nizamabad district) , Mednoor (Nizamabad district) , Balkonda (Nizamabad district) and Mudhole (Adilabad district) received 1 cm rainfall.
The Met officials informed that heat wave conditions prevailed in Visakhapatnam, Guntur and Prakasam districts of coastal Andhra and Warangal in Telangana.
The IMD department also issued warnings that the heat wave would be prevailing in Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Warangal districts for the next 72 hours.
The daily weather observations revealed that Hanamkonda recorded the highest maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius, followed by Adilabad at 39 degrees Celsius, while in coastal Andhra Pradesh Rentachintala recorded 43 degrees Celsius.
